The Power of Probiotics for Better Oral Health

Everyone wants oral health. We desire healthy, great-looking teeth and gums, but few know that probiotics for oral health can make a huge difference.

At The Guyer Institute and Synergy Spa we carry a versatile range of probiotic supplements for oral health.

Research shows unmistakable benefits to increasing the body’s supply of this so-called “friendly” bacteria already in our systems. They are a natural means of fighting gum disease, plaque…bad breath, too.

The bacteria can stem infection that leads to tooth decay or worse. Probiotics for oral health strengthen your immune system. The supplements, in general, also hinder pathogens from binding to your body’s tissues.

“We should all elevate the supply of probiotics our body chemistry can use to tackle a range of health problems,” says Dale Guyer, M.D., founder of The Guyer Institute and Synergy Spa. “There are a range of foods that can do this, but most people just don’t get enough of those.”

Dr. Guyer goes on. “That’s where our supplements come in,” he says. “I see the effects of probiotics on our patents’ oral health again and again – it is powerful. I encourage our patients to come into the Institute to see the latest probiotic supplements for oral health that we have on hand.”

At the core of oral health danger is plaque – a sticky, colorless film of bacteria. Plaque not removed from around the gum line can cause inflammation and irritation.

Probiotics for oral health can fight those bacteria, along with regular, highly skilled attention and work by a dentist.

We also invite you to take a look at the array of probiotics and other supplements at The Supplement Store on line.

They include Ultra Biotic (capsule form) and Ecobiotic (powder), each a blend of 18 strains of bacteria. These probiotic supplements are a potent blend of 600 billion bacteria per serving.

Also at The Guyer Institute and Synergy Spa, we carry the following probiotic supplements:

  • Russian Immune Capsules
  • S. Boulardi
  • Prescript Assist Pr0

We also carry two other supplements now well-known for their benefits to oral health.

CoQ10 –  functions as an antioxidant protecting our cells from free radical damage.  Applying CoQ10 directly to the gums may help reduce gum disease by improving gum attachment to the teeth.

Skinny Coconut Oil – enzyme-modified coconut oil strongly inhibits the growth of most strains of Streptococcus bacteria. This includes Streptococcus mutans, an acid-producing bacterium that is a major cause of tooth decay

Our office is always at the forefront of ways to improve yourself. We advocate a tailored and holistic approach to body and mind. Your oral health is certainly an area we can help greatly.”

Dr. Guyer adds: “The mouth is the gateway to your body.  It’s critical to maintain and maximize oral health.”

Probiotics for oral health have a variety of other potential, important health advantages, including digestive improvement, and on heart disease.

Don’t just brush, floss, and rinse. Bring probiotic supplements into your daily health regimen. Breathe easier knowing you’re doing all you can- the friendly bacteria’s got your back!

Gardening For Healthy Produce, Less Stress

It’s never too late to get into gardening – for health, for exercise, for beauty, and for peace of mind. There are lots of tips and tricks for doing it well, and gaining the most benefits you can.

And: if you’re done with your first round of setup and planting for summer, by all means keep at it.

At The Guyer Institute and Synergy Spa – a med spa that meets all your needs – our founder knows from experience that there’s no garden that can’t grow more produce, plants, and other nuggets.

They are beneficial for your body and your stress levels – improving both can leave you feeling better and looking better.

“Gardening is good all the way around,” says Dale Guyer, M.D. “It’s one my most important pastimes – it has bettered my health through relaxation and improved nutrition.”

Dr. Guyer feels calmer when he gets to work in the soil, sometimes planting and harvesting, sometimes just watering or making sure his garden looks attractive, too.

There are a multitude of references on line about gardening – some will help you if you’re new, others are great for learning more and growing better.

Next, some primary matters to consider, and decisions to make.

  • What do I want to grow – and how much of it? How will it be organized? It is often more advisable to start small rather than start big. You can add on at your own pace.
  • What will the location be, and how big?
  • Is your soil suitable for gardening? Most soil on a normal lot is, but there are easy ways to check soil health
  • Seek to maximize space in the garden by avoiding traditional row planting and instead, try 3 or 4-foot wide raised beds.

Once you’re ready to move forward:

  • Read up on the vegetables and fruits that interest you.
  • Take a visit to your nearest greenhouse or gardening center. Look around, ask questions.
  • Choose and purchase your seedlings to get a faster start. Many “starts” or seedlings are available from your local nursery—for example: tomatoes, peppers, onions, broccoli, and melon plants.
  • Get your basic gardening “gear.” Gloves, a trowel for working with the dirt and planting, a watering can and/or hose, the right kind of organic fertilizer, trellises for tomatoes, a wheel barrel and rake, shears, and a sunhat and sunscreen, too!
  • At The Guyer Institute and Synergy Spa, the best med spa in Indianapolis, we highly recommend using non-toxic chemical products or homemade insect control  to protect the environment, yourself, and the soil. For example:

Slugs: Collect by hand w/gloves, spray cold coffee. Consider a product called Monterrey Sluggo.

Aphids: Spray off with cool water. Purchase ladybugs – they are excellent insect killers.

Cutworms: Consider tubing the plants – sprinkle coffee grounds, or egg shells, and use oak leaves as mulch.

“Gardening can be so enjoyable,” Dr. Guyer says, “and you really can save money, too. Trust me: when you a taste a juicy tomato or cherry you planted at home, you’ll be thrilled you decided to become a gardener.”

Again, don’t try to do everything at once, and don’t expect perfection. Over a few seasons, you’ll have just the kind of garden that suits you and your family’s needs.
